Frank Wszelaki, President & CEO
Frank Wszelaki joined Columbia Power in September 2011. Frank has close to 30 years experience in all aspects of the Electric Utility industry, from Engineering to Executive Leadership, and has worked in both coal and nuclear power plants. He spent five years as the Director of one of the largest coal power plants in the US, located in Monroe, MI. Frank holds a degree in electrical engineering as well as a MBA and is certified from the Project Management Institute. He has also earned his Lean Six Sigma Black Belt in business management strategy and holds a Technical Staff & Managers Certification from the National Academy for Nuclear Training.
Sue Dyer, Vice President, Operations
Sue Dyer has over 20 years experience in Plant Operations and Maintenance Management in both British Columbia and Alberta. Most recently Sue was employed as the Manager, Electric Generation at the City of Medicine Hat, accountable for the full scope of management of the City’s Generation Facility. Sue has also held the positions of General Manager at Brookfield Renewable Power and spent many years in Operations Management at West Kootenay Power/FortisBC. Sue holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Masters of International Business Administration and a Project Management Professional Certification.
Giulio Ambrosone, Vice President, Capital Projects
Giulio Ambrosone joined Columbia Power in 2003 after four years as the Resident Engineer with Klohn Crippen/SNC Lavalin, Columbia Power’s Owner’s Consultant during construction of the Arrow Lakes Generating Station. Giulio has a Master’s of Science degree in Construction Management, and is also a professional engineer with a degree in civil engineering, and over 30 years experience in power plant construction.
Karim Hirji, Vice President, Project Development
Karim Hirji has over 25 years experience in operations, project management, engineering and construction of power, transmission and distribution infrastructure and maintenance projects. He has held leadership positions in engineering and project management with BC Hydro and with leading consultancy providers SNC Lavalin and Amec. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science, Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia and has a Project Management Professional Designation. He is also is a registered member of the Association of Professional Engineers of BC (APEGBC).
David De Git, Director, Commercial Contracts, Regulatory and Government Affairs
David De Git has been with Columbia Power since 1999. In his current position, he is responsible for accounting, risk management and controllership for the corporation. David is a member of the Certified Management Accountants of British Columbia and served as a CMABC Board Director from 2006 to 2008.
Frank Marino, Director, Human Resources & Corporate Services
Frank Marino joined Columbia Power in 2013. Frank is responsible for developing HR strategies, policies, processes, practices and programs to support the organizations activities including recruitment and selection, performance management, learning and development. He is also accountable to the Board of Directors on executive hiring and compensation related items, ensuring that the organization is compliant with the Public Sector Employers’ Council policies and guidelines. Frank has a Bachelor of Education degree and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia along with over 20 years experience in Human Resources and Management in both public sector health care and the private sector.
Anastasios Tsalamandris, Director, Finance
Anastasios (Tasso) Tsalamandris is Columbia Power’s Director, Finance. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of British Columbia and is a Certified Management Accountant. Before joining Columbia Power in 2012 as Controller, Tasso held positions of Manager Regulatory Financial Reporting & Analysis at ICBC, Director of Finance for the Olympic Broadcasting Services in Vancouver, and most recently, was the Director of Finance at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice Society where he was responsible for the Accounting, Facilities and IT functions, including overseeing investment and cash management responsibilities. Tasso has many years of experience in utilities having worked with Fortis BC (formerly Terrasen Gas) BC Hydro and was engaged as an advisor to the BC Utilities Commission.
